Art and music play major roles in Jill Torberson’s life. Evenings, the 39 year old Portlander plays the French horn in one of five area orchestras that she is a member of, such as the Columbia Symphony, the Rose City Chamber Orchestra, and the Yaquina Chamber Orchestra. Several days a week, when she is not working at Portland Picture Frame, she makes art. “Music has been with me my whole life,” says the Kansas native, who has a degree in music performance from the University of Oklahoma. She studied welding, ceramics, and printmaking after moving to Oregon some 15 years ago. page 2
